As it turned out, the limes in the cocktail were healing agents. Richly nutrient in vitamin C they prevented scurvy – every sailors worst nightmare. #1 – Tom Collins
The Tom Collins is one of the most famous cocktails in the world, but who was he and why do they belong at the top of our Top 5 Artisan Cardiff Gin Cocktails list? It turns out that nobody knows. Many have a sneaking suspicion it’s named after John Collins, the head waiter at Limmer’s Old House in Mayfair, who had a very similar cocktail. It’s understandable how these similarly sounding names could conceivably get mixed up, and over the years John slowly morphed into Tom. Either that, or to it’s complete bullsh%t.*

- Lemon juice 25ml
- Sugar Syrup 25ml
- Sparkling water 125ml
- Slice of lemon
